چکیده
Farming and trading of aquarium fish has been considered a popular pastime in the world. Most Iran's are imported from Asian countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand Vietnam. Fish lice (Argulus) is known as one most important common ectoparasites ornamental fish. Reports indicate that these parasites have observed to Iran (e.g goldfish Carassius auratus koi carp Cyprinus carpio). Today, due mismanagement some breeding centres Iran, species such may escaped into natural waters which increase risk transmitting pathogens native The present work was performed investigate outbreak an ectoparasite Argulus two also evaluate possibility transmission inland freshwater fishes Iran.

Prevalence of parasitic diseases as a serious threat to the ornamental fish industry: A study on the prevalence of Argulus parasites in ornamental fishes of Iran
Ornamental freshwater fish farming is a popular pastime around the world. Considering that Iran's ornamental fish are mainly imported from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, there is the possibility of the transmission of parasite species through the import of these fish. Species belonging to the genus Argulus are one of the most important ectoparasites that have been identified in orna...
متن کاملThe First Record of Argulus foliacesus (Crustacea: Branchiura) Infestation on Lionhead Goldfish (Carassius auratus) in Iran
Argulus foliaceus (Crustacea: Branchiura), or the fish louse, is an ectoparasite of the skin or gill of the fresh water fish species. Clinical signs in infected fish include scratching on aquarium walls, erratic swimming, and poor growth. It causes pathological changes due to direct tissue damage and secondary infections. In the present study, lionhead goldfish (Carassius auratus), taken from a...

In this study we examine differences in the occurrence of life history stages of the destructive fish ectoparasite Argulus foliaceus (L., 1758) on eight fish species (stickleback, rudd, roach, gudgeon, bream, tench, crucian carp and common carp) sampled from a mixed-species recreational fishing lake on nine occasions during late spring and summer. Total numbers ofA. foliaceus, as well as the nu...

We studied the fine structure of some classical and six variant mitochondria from different tissues viz. proboscis gland, spinal gland, ovary, testis, and muscle of a fish ectoparasite, Argulus bengalensis. In the proboscis gland and spinal gland, mitochondria are protected within vesicle to preserve their structure and activity from exposure to glandular synthesis for its parasitic mode of fee...
متن کاملSurvey of parasitic fauna of different ornamental freshwater fish species in Iran
Parasitic diseases are harmful and limiting factors in breeding and rearing ornamental fish industry. In this study, 400 apparently healthy ornamental fishes from five species (each species 80 specimens) including: Goldfish (Carassius auratus), guppy (Poecilia reticulate), angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), discus (Symphsodon discus) and sailfin molli...
